This is the story of how a small group of committed clinicians—frustrated by gaps in the system—came together to create something better.
CPD-Approved ADHD Course Created for GPs by GPs
— because we know what matters in the consulting room.
This ADHD training course wasn’t designed in a vacuum or written by distant academics. It was built from the ground up by practising GPs who understand firsthand the challenges of recognising, diagnosing and managing ADHD in everyday clinical settings. The result is a course that’s not only evidence-based—it’s practical, relevant, and immediately useful.

The story of the course
Words from our Founder
Hear what Dr. Carmel O’Toole, the Founder of BeyondGP, had to say in a recent interview with Dr. Dianne Grocott, Senior Psychiatrist and the Head of the Australian Adult ADHD Interest Group (AAADHDIG):

This training program was developed in direct response to a well-documented gap in general practitioner training on adult ADHD in Australia. It is the culmination of years of development by a rigorous multidisciplinary team. Built by GPs, psychiatrists, addiction specialists, and educators in response to address real-world practitioner needs. The program was designed to ensure clinical rigour, practical relevance, and alignment with emerging international best practices.
Born From a Clinical Gap

It started with a simple truth: most GPs felt underprepared.
A small group of Victorian GPs saw the same thing across their clinics—undiagnosed ADHD, missed opportunities for intervention, and a lack of confidence among colleagues. They decided to change that. What followed was a grassroots, clinician-led project to develop a course that would meet the real-world needs of Australian general practice.
Built in Collaboration With National Experts

From local insights to national reach.
Partnering with the Victorian Adult ADHD Interest Group (VAADHDIG) and the Australasian Adult ADHD Interest Group (AAADHDIG), the course gained immediate traction among clinical leaders across the country. These groups ensured that while the course was born locally, it was guided by nationally respected voices in ADHD care.
Grounded in the Best Available Evidence

You’ll get the tools, the confidence, and the clinical safety net.
The course curriculum was mapped against Australian and international guidelines, including those from:
- AADPA (Australian ADHD Professionals Association)
- NICE (UK)
- CADDRA (Canada)
- CHADD (USA)
You can be confident that what you’re learning reflects current best practice—while being filtered through a general practice lens.
Informed by the Voice of General Practice

More than 50 GPs contributed. Their experience shaped every module.
We asked GPs what they needed—and they told us. Through workshops, feedback sessions, and pilot reviews, over 50 general practitioners contributed directly to the structure and content of this course. That means every lesson reflects the language, logic, and flow of an actual GP consult.
Peer Reviewed by ADHD and GP Experts

Not just accurate—clinically rigorous.
After development, every module was peer-reviewed by experienced GPs and ADHD specialists to ensure that content met a high standard of clinical clarity and quality. This review process helps guarantee that the course isn’t just informative, but safe, effective, and ready for use in your own consulting room.
Independent of Pharma

There is no pharmaceutical industry involvement—by design.
This course was developed without any pharmaceutical funding or influence. That’s deliberate. It means your learning is based purely on clinical best practice, not commercial interests. It also ensures that the recommendations are unbiased, balanced, and fully aligned with the needs of general practice.
CPD-Approved, Ready to Use

Take what you learn today and use it tomorrow.
The course is fully accredited for CPD and designed with real clinic workflows in mind. Whether you’re seeing children, adolescents, or adults, the tools and frameworks provided will help you assess and manage ADHD with confidence.
Why It Matters

Because ADHD is common. Often missed. And treatable.
This course is the result of what happens when GPs take action: clinical insight, academic rigour, and heartfelt purpose come together to deliver something that’s truly useful. If you’ve ever felt unsure about how to manage ADHD in the consult room, this course was made for you.
